You don’t have to keep Focus Dog open to know what’s going on. The app surfaces session progress, the dog’s mood, and recent activity in three places outside the app itself.

Live Activity (iPhone, iOS 16.2+)

When a focus session is running, a Live Activity is automatically pinned to your Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island.

  • Compact view (Dynamic Island): donut count on the leading edge, timer on the trailing edge.
  • Expanded view (long press): full timer, donut count, and an End Session button.
  • Lock Screen: same data, plus a progress bar for goal-based sessions.
  • Updates every 5 seconds; auto-dismisses when the session ends.

The “End Session” button opens the app via focusdog://end-session and stops the session normally.

Live session notification (Android)

Android gets the same idea as a silent ongoing notification on its own channel — timer, progress bar, and a one-tap End Session action. No sound or vibration.

Home screen widgets (iOS)

Three widgets, all available without opening the app:

  • Level progress — your current level, XP toward the next, with the dog image.
  • Last 14 days of activity — daily focus time with your top 5 tags.
  • Dog happiness meter — how the dog is feeling right now.

Widgets refresh every 4 hours via a shared App Group with the main app.

Dark mode

The app, the widgets, and the Live Activity all respect your system appearance — light, dark, or auto.
